Ohio Improvement
Process
The Adena Local School District
is required to participate in
the Ohio Improvement Process.
This is a school improvement
process of which all schools in
the State of Ohio are required
to participate. The process
focuses on improvement in test
scores, improving classroom
instruction and community
involvement as well as other
goals the District determines
necessary and beneficial.
One of the
goals in this process is to
inform the community of issues
dealing with the school. The
following is information gives
background on financial,
facility and academic issues of
the school in the past, present
and future.
Academically

What are some
things that have been done in
the past four years to make the
District better?
a.
Purchased six new buses
b.
Purchased three vans- cut fuel
costs by using vans for
transportation and extended the
life of our bus fleet.
c.
Increased staff in areas of
intervention, special education
and class size reduction
d.
Upgraded technology annually
e.
Added digital cameras to buses
which has improved discipline on
the buses
f.
Upgraded bus radios to meet new
FCC regulations and improve
communication between buses and
school.
g.
Improved the bleachers at the
football field, making them
safer
h.
Improved security at the school
with additional cameras.

Eliminated class fees for
2010-2011

Provide staff development in
ways to improve instruction and
the use of the new technologies

Added soccer as a sport

What are our goals for the next
3-5 years?
a.
Increase the use of technology
in the classroom

Increase the number electives
for the high school

Provide more intervention for
students in need

Extend the TAG program to the
Middle School.

Provide alternative education
for those who need it.

Replace the visitor bleachers at
the football field
g.
Add a baseball field on the
school site

Add a weight room/multipurpose
room at the school site

Maintain the current facilities

when the funding and budget
allows.

How much money is enough?
There is no set formula or
amount as to how much is
needed. The guideline that most
schools use is that a 90 day
carryover would be needed. For
Adena that would amount to about
$2.5 million.
