Adena Local Schools

This is Lisa Wayland, Adena Elementary Principal, with an announcement regarding preschool application drop off scheduled for Monday morning, February 1. We know the weather is expected to be harsh and there is snow in the forecast for the weekend, but we will proceed with accepting preschool applications as planned. Applications can be dropped off at The Sunroom at the Brick, 113 E. High Street Frankfort, between 7:30am and 10:00pm. If you arrive prior to 7:30am, you will be expected to line up in the order of arrival. The line will form inside, so no one will have to wait outdoors in wintry conditions. Again, we will proceed with preschool application drop off Monday morning. Thank you.

At our wrestling meet tonight, Isaac Gray picked up his 100th career win! He picked up wins against Unioto and Huntington to reach this milestone. Congrats, Isaac! Garrett Simmons picked up two more wins and he now only needs a few more to reach the 100 win milestone also! Also picking up wins were Alex Riddle, and Chase Knisley.

Students are invited to wear hats to school tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan 26, for a dollar donation to the Leukemia Society. Thank you‼️

Last night at our home wrestling meet, Isaac Gray remained undefeated on the season with wins against Zane Trace and Waverly! Gabe Moore, Chase Knisley, Alex Riddle and Garrett Simmons all picked up wins against Waverly.

Claire Robinson, a freshman, competed in her first gymnastics meet on Monday at Worthington Kilbourne. Claire competed in the balance beam and bars events. She finished 7th on the balance beam. Claire rotated in with Washington C.H. and Greenville. Her next meet is Friday, January 15th at Thornville Sheridan. Nice job, Claire! Go Warriors!

Applications for the Adena Elementary 2021-2022 Preschool Classes will be accepted Monday, February 1st, 7:30am at THE SUNROOM @ THE BRICK (113 E. High Street, Frankfort). The child must be 4 years old on or before 8/1/21. Prior to February 1st: applications can be found on this post, the school website, or already printed in the Elementary office. On February 1st: applications will be accepted beginning at 7:30am until 10:00am; if you arrive before 7:30am you will be expected to line up in the order of arrival; applications will be numbered in the order they are received and spots are filled in a first come, first served manner; no applications can be obtained or submitted at Adena Elementary that day; there will be copies of the application at the Sunroom for those in need; applications will only be accepted in person, not through email or fax. After February 1st: application copies and submission can take place at the Elementary office between 8am and 2pm; applications will only be accepted in person, not through email or fax. Some members of the Class of 2021 got to show their Christmas spirit this past week! Several are showing off their Christmas sweaters as they took a quick pose in front of their Christmas tree that they put up and decorated. It is a senior tradition to put up the tree.

Our boys’ basketball team defeated Piketon tonight, 46-26, to improve to 4-0 in the SVC and 7-1 overall. Their next game is this Wednesday at Chesapeake. Go Warriors!

The first edition of the Adena High School Newsletter is out! The Fall 2020 Issue can be found in Frankfort at the Main & High Shortstop, Frankfort Hardware & Gifts, and the Friends and Company Beauty and Barber Salon. It can also be picked up at Pettit’s in Clarksburg. The district is working on a mailing list, so the newsletter can be mailed to residents that would like to receive the newsletter. An electronic version will also be available soon.

Our Lady Warriors improved to 5-0 in the SVC and 8-0 overall with a 49-28 victory over Piketon tonight. Way to work, ladies!

Interim reports for the second nine weeks will be available in ProgressBook tomorrow morning by 8 a.m. There is an early dismissal tomorrow as we head into our winter break. Dismissal time will be 12:50 p.m.

We currently have four members on our swim team and recently two of them were honored at Senior Day. Our two swim team seniors are Jacob Kashner and Kevin Kruger. Our swim team has strong showings at recent meets! On Monday at Greenfield, our 200 freestyle relay team of Jacob Kashner, Kevin Kruger, Zach Posey, and Evan Ater finished 2nd with a time of 1:58.89. Evan Ater had personal bests in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle! He finished first in both events with a time of 2:14.71 in the 200 freestyle and a time of 1:16.83 in the 100 breaststroke! Their next meet is scheduled for January 7, 2021 at the Ross County YMCA.

In the second quarter of our boys’ basketball game tonight, Logan Bennett scored his 1000th career point on this shot! Congratulations, Logan! Our boys basketball team went on to win over Southeastern, 68-37. Go Warriors!

The November Student of the Month for the high school is Sarah Posey! Congratulations, Sarah!
